DRAGA DRAGANOVA (2005)
TIMEMACHINE
(MA FINAL WORK 2005)
The concept
Maybe
there is a world out there, where the time does not exist, but here
and now
we are completely aware of what had happened and what is about to
happen from
now on. For better or worse we can change our reality. Or at
least we can wish
to, which is a way of changing it too. I believe, each
event in time is as
predetermined as it is vulnerable in the hundredth of a
second before it's
committed or caused.
I¹ve chosen a memorial
theme, because I believe, that when a civilization is
on the brink of it's
greatest war, the war with the ghosts of its own
mistakes, it's appropriate
to reconsider what is done 'in the name of better
future'. All evil was deemed
to be good. And that is what is forgotten!

The
immediate cause of the war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia was the
assassination
on June 28, 1914, at Sarajevo in Bosnia (together with
Hercegovina, then part
of Austria-Hungary), of Archduke Francis Ferdinand,
heir-presumptive to the
Austrian and Hungarian thrones, by Gavrilo Princip
(1893-1918), a Serb nationalist.
The fundamental causes of the conflict,
however, were rooted deeply in the
European history of the previous century.

The Holocaust was the effort of Adolf
Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany
to exterminate the Jews and other people
that they considered to be
inferior. As a result about 12,000,000 people -
about half of them Jews -
were murdered.

are killed immediately; about 145,000 persons will
perish from the bombing
by the end of 1945. Three days later the atomic
bomb was used again on the
city of Nagasaki, followed shortly by the end of
World War II.

During the morning rush hour two hijacked 757 airliners slam
into the twin
towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, creating an
explosion and
fire that leads to the collapse of both towers. Moments later,
a third
airliner crashed into the Pentagon building in Washington, D.C., and
another
crash-landed near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in what was revealed to
be a
coordinated terrorist attack on the United States. Thousands of
lives-including
emergency workers, airline passengers and crew, and
employees of the Pentagon
and World Trade towers-were lost.
