Moon
/MA FINAL WORK 2005/
Medal objects
My work was inspired by the silhouette which is an inseparable part of our lives. The moon directly affects the natural forces and is a symbol of the constantly changing, the diminishing and growing, the light and the shadow.
The moon's magical image has inspired people from ancient times to this day. It's connected not only with the divine but the demonic as well. In the kinetic plastics I used the silhouette of the changing moon from full to new moon-the two polarities in one entity like in mathematics from zero to infinity when zero is in fact infinity, one indelible chain-one circle.
The moon is a giant chronometer dictating its tempo and rules during the time we come and go. Through the clean forms of a curve rotating around a semi-circle I use the influence of the sign as a symbol.
The fan-like plaquettes represent the lunar calendar and the parts of the fan represent the number of the days in it.
Through the use of acid over the metal I have searched to create the effect of the cosmic body we know from the satellite pictures.
